Teachers honored at top 25 banquet

Teachers Appreciation Week culminated with the 11th annual Granbury ISD Education Foundation Academic Recognition Banquet (commonly called the GEF Top 25 Banquet). On May 9, 2024, at La Bella Luna, teachers and other employees were honored with a reading. Each Top 25 student and their guest of honor stood for the reading of their statement about how the educator they selected impacted their education and lives.

Here is a list of the students’ names along with the teacher they chose to honor: Abigail Stone — Deborah Sullivan, former AES fifth grade teacher; Bailey James — Jose Ochoa, GHS math teacher; Bailey Blum — Cindy Leatherman, GHS social studies teacher; Abigail Boyd — Jon Allen, GHS engineering teacher; Sarah Boyd — Erin Wilson, GHS CTE teacher; Noah Brown — Jaqueline Bradshaw, GHS English teacher; Bodie Chastain — Liz Robblee Davis, GHS ASL teacher; Lindsey Colin — Mark Kirk, GHS CTE teacher; Sierra Couden — Kylee Peterson, GHS CTE teacher; Gavin Dafoe — Katie Lefler, GHS teacher and coach; Ella Garner — Kensey Gamboa, GHS teacher and coach; Brenna Haynes — Susan Robinson, GHS science teacher; Braxton Heffernan — Maverick Macy, GHS teacher and coach; Lucas Hyde— Cindy Jackson, GHS chemistry teacher; Hunter Jones — Sonny Galindo, GHS social studies teacher; Babish Konner — Wade Green, GHS science; Zachary Layland — Cody Watkins, GHS math teacher; Kensington Loving — Joe Overstreet, GHS CTE teacher; Vaghashia Mann — Chelsie Robberson — GHS CTE teacher; Katelyn Mauldin — John Morgan, former AMS band director; Cadence Morisette — Courteney Hinojosa, GHS CTE teacher; Riely Morris — David Windleman, GHS social studies teacher and coach; Reagan Neal — Cari Morisette, GHS CTE teacher; Alyson Piles — Kelcey Daffan, GHS art teacher; Anna Sommerfield — Kendra Fisher, GHS choral director; and Zepher Tice — Kerek Hogg, GHS social studies teacher.

GEF thanks its board members Michelle Lucero and Holly Martin for leading the event, Nancy Peterson for making the memorable picture frames for each student and teacher, and Sam Houston and Holly Martin for reading aloud the students' sentiments. Also, thanks to GHS CTE teacher Dawn Bradley for creating and printing the banquet program.
