The City of Granbury has named Shea Hopkins its new director of economic development, bringing in a seasoned professional to spearhead the city’s growth initiatives. Hopkins will collaborate closely with City Manager Chris Coffman to devise and implement strategies aimed at driving economic progress in the community.

Hopkins arrives in Granbury with extensive experience. She most recently served as the assistant director of economic development for the City of San Antonio. She led the global and industry divisions in that role, managing incentive programs and foreign direct investment efforts.

Before her tenure in San Antonio, Hopkins was the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board executive director in Tennessee. Under her leadership, the board secured more than $5.2 billion in new capital investment projects, including Tennessee’s largest foreign direct investment. One of her notable achievements was the establishment of an industrial park childcare facility that serves 800 students at reduced rates, benefiting employees and military families alike.

Hopkins’ career marks significant accomplishments in business recruitment, talent development, supply chain management, and public-private partnerships. She has held leadership positions in chambers of commerce, economic councils, and various organizations dedicated to economic development, including a previous role with the Granbury Chamber of Commerce.

“What drew me back to Granbury was the opportunity to raise my family in this wonderful community,” Hopkins said. “I am excited and proud to join a brilliant team working towards fostering economic growth in this city. Helping to create jobs and generate investments is at the heart of economic development. The best way to shape Granbury’s future is through creative collaboration, focusing on existing businesses, infrastructure, workforce development and attracting new capital investments.”

Coffman expressed his enthusiasm for Hopkins’ return, stating, “We are excited to welcome Shea back to Granbury. Her expertise will be instrumental in fostering business development and retention, which ultimately strengthens our community by retaining and creating high-quality jobs.”

Hopkins, a native of Abilene, holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from Texas Woman’s University. In her new role, she is committed to shaping the future of Granbury by supporting local businesses, enhancing infrastructure and driving new investments.
