With a hearty “yee-haw,” Hood County is leaving its red-hot brand on Texas’ “Cowboy Tourism” trail.

A walk down memory lane becomes even more enthralling when you’re accompanied by the enigmatic revolutionaries, indigenous forefathers and descendants of Texians who shaped our proud state’s history. Talk with these famed characters as you together take Hood County’s 14th annual “Stroll thru Texas History,” and see for yourself exactly how Granbury became known as the city “Where Texas History Lives.”

Just about everyone can agree that nothing is more American than lemonade or capitalism. On May 17, hundreds of local children will flock to the curb loaded down with lemons, sugar, and water to demonstrate this idea and usher in Hood County’s third annual Lemonade Day. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., make it your goal to stuff your bladders and the pockets of local fifth graders by hitting the streets and supporting as many of the young entrepreneurs stands as possible.

Nothing in this life beats a good old-fashioned hometown fish fry. Starting as a Lenten tradition, a fish fry on a spring Friday has become commonplace with all demographics, and is now considered as heartily American as apple pie. This year, Hood County’s biggest fish fry, called the ‘Taste of Tolar,’ is going to be hosted by the Tolar Education Foundation at LC Ranch April 26 at 6 p.m.

When Michelle Summers took over her family’s holistic health business, Bee Healthy, in 2022, she wasn’t a believer in the capabilities of natural medicine. However, these days, she’s a complete convert and has dedicated her life and her career to finding natural ways to help Hood County’s residents feel a little better each day.

The Jazz Society of Hood County has decided to postpone the Jazz Fest to Saturday, March 1. Originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, the group decided to postpone the event due to the especially cold temperatures.
