Posted

The Granbury Toys for Tots program is getting a jump on things this year with an earlier start to its season. Typically, the charity begins its season in October, but this year the season will open Saturday, Aug. 17 with a motorcycle run.

Local coordinator Julie Hale said, “We have a full schedule of events for the season established already.” Hale heads the group that covers Hood, Somervell, Parker and Erath County. Last year the group served 1,406 children.

The Summer Santa’s Ride event is sponsored by Rogue 22 Motorcycle Club and begins with brunch at Cool Junk, 1600 W. Pearl Street at 10 a.m.

From Cool Junk, bikers will ride to Wilson’s Biker Gear at 3016 Alta Mere Drive in Fort Worth where the first 90 registered riders will receive a custom poker chip.

The Bikers will carry on the ride from Wilson’s to Trewink Tattoos at 5399 Glen Rose Highway, where there will be raffle items and food available for purchase.

The fee is $20 per rider with a $10 fee for passengers. Toy donations are appreciated. More information can be found at granbury-tx.toysfortots.org.
