A family was displaced from its home after it was ravaged by fire last week, but no injuries were reported, according to information obtained from the Hood County Fire Marshal’s Office.

According to authorities, at about 3:40 p.m. Aug. 19, the Hood County Sheriff’s Department dispatched DeCordova/Acton Volunteer Fire Department along with Granbury VFD, North Hood County VFD, Cresson VFD, Pecan Plantation VFD, Hood County Fire Marshal’s Office and Texas EMS to a report of a residential structure fire in the Sandy Beach neighborhood in Hood County.

The fire marshal’s office reports an explosion occurred before responding fire departments arrived, which was heard and felt for several miles. Firefighters arrived to find the residence fully involved with flames, and it was determined the explosion was attributed to a propane tank. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

The American Red Cross was contacted to aid the displaced family. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the Hood County Fire Marshal’s Office.
