The Opera Guild of Granbury is open to new membership. The group was established in 1978 and helps support the Granbury Opera House, the Granbury Theatre Company and The Granbury Theatre Academy.
The guild hosts three main fundraisers a year – the Sip ‘n’ Support event at D’Vine Wine, the Chow Down for Charities at Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill and Bingo at the Granbury Conference Center.
Program year for the Opera Guild begins Sept. 3. The general meeting is the first Tuesday of every month from September through May with many opportunities for socializing and entertainment.
In the previous two years the guild has made major donations to its allied arts partners to the tune of over $35,000. Various donations covered the purchase of repair parts for seats in the Opera House, decorating the Opera House with buntings, the 10th anniversary renovation, Christmas decorating of the Opera House, and payments toward a truck for the theatre company and a portable air conditioner for the building of sets.
Additionally, the guild donated two trips to Junior Theatre Festival for deserving young thespians, as well as 12 scholarships to academy students.
The guild is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to support the Granbury Opera House and its allied arts. Membership fees are: single $25, joint and business $35. The next meeting will be at DeCordova Country Club Sept. 3. RSVP to granburyog@gmail.com or call 817-776-2898 by noon Aug. 30.
