The Granbury Independent School District plans to announce its interim superintendent Monday, Aug. 26 — contingent upon Dr. Jeremy’s Glenn’s confirmation as the new superintendent of Carroll ISD.
During the GISD board of trustees meeting Aug. 19, the board announced it had already selected its new interim superintendent in executive session. However, the official announcement will not be made until Carroll ISD holds its board meeting early next week, when Glenn is anticipated to be officially confirmed for the position.
“At that time, we will do a public announcement release, get ahold of the paper, and we’ll get that taken care of,” Board President Barbara Townsend said, during the meeting.
Glenn was officially named the lone finalist for the Carroll ISD superintendent position during a special board workshop Aug. 5.
State law requires a 21-day waiting period before Carroll ISD can officially appoint Glenn as its new superintendent. During this time, Glenn has remained with Granbury ISD to work with district staff and campus leaders to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
“It has truly been my honor to serve Granbury ISD for the last six years as superintendent,” Glenn said in a GISD news release. “I’m grateful for the school board for the opportunity to work with some of the best students, teachers, parents and community members in Texas. Together, we have improved academic test scores, developed higher education partnerships, and lowered the tax rate every year while still maintaining a balanced budget. These accolades are a testament to our outstanding leadership team, board of trustees and the Granbury community that always puts the welfare of students first.”
Glenn — who will replace Carroll ISD’s retiring Superintendent Lane Ledbetter — led GISD through several notable achievements. The news release states that in addition to elevating academic achievement scores district wide and creating higher education partnerships, Glenn’s accomplishments also include:
“Dr. Glenn has served our district well for six years,” Townsend said in the news release. “His legacy will be the strong academic and financial leadership teams that he has established at Granbury ISD. We congratulate Carroll ISD for recognizing Dr. Glenn’s leadership qualities and we wish Dr. Glenn the best as he moves forward to lead Southlake Carroll.”
Once the interim superintendent is named, the GISD board of trustees will begin the search process for a new superintendent this fall, with plans to name a finalist who can start January 2025.
