Hood County Sheriff's Office deputies experienced a harrowing incident this morning after a disturbance call resulted in a fatal exchange of gunfire.
According to Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds, deputies responded to a disturbance in the 4000 block of Peak Road around 9 a.m. this morning. Upon arrival, HCSO deputies were fired upon from a single suspect. HCSO deputies then returned fire and the suspect was later pronounced deceased.
“There is no active threat to the community at this time and no deputies were seriously injured,” Deeds said.
The Texas Department of Public Safety — Texas Ranger Division responded to the scene and is investigating the incident. There is no further information to be released at this time, according to officials.
