Peter Garland, 86, passed away on April 15, 2026, at his home in Granbury, Texas. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Stella Garland, and his wife of 62 years, Sallie Anne Garland.

Born Sept. 14, 1939, in Rochester, New York, Peter attended the Rochester Institute of Technology and lived there until 1969, when he moved his family to Fort Worth, Texas. He worked in retail for many years before opening a boutique specializing in full-figured women’s clothing.
He enjoyed walking, swimming, playing Euchre, and making homemade pizza every Sunday night, a tradition he started when he met Sallie and continued into his 80s. He also spent time working in his yard, mowing, trimming trees, and maintaining the sprinkler system for his wife’s garden. Family remained important to him throughout his life.
He was a member of Granbury Historic Preservation Commission for several years and helped support efforts to maintain the town’s historic character and small-town feel, as it was when he and his wife moved there in 1988.
