Mary Manley Allen 1924 – 2026

It is with joy and sadness that we announce Mary Manley Allen’s home going to be with her Lord and Savior. At the age of 101, Mary passed away at home as a resident of Granbury, Texas Jan. 12, 2026. She was formerly of Augusta, Morrow, and Atlanta, Georgia. Mary was born Oct. 23, 1924, to Myrtle Ione (Johnson) Manley and Robert Raymond Manley in Atlanta. Friends describe her as a prayer warrior, mentor, godly servant, Bible teacher, missionary, evangelist, lifelong friend, patriot, political activist, quilter and southern.

Mary served as Director of Evangelism at First Presbyterian Church, Augusta, Georgia, teaching believers how to share the gospel through Evangelism Explosion. She served on the Georgia State Board of Child Evangelism Fellowship (Good News Clubs), teaching believers how to share the gospel with children, and served in various roles for 50-plus years. A prolific writer with biblical insight, she developed and taught Christian curricula for children used by Released Time Christian Education in Augusta schools. At 70, Mary served for a year in Ukraine with CoMission. She returned twice to Ukraine on mission trips at 75 and 80. Mary authored two locally published children’s devotionals celebrating Easter and Christmas, provided to Granbury churches.

Mary retired from Rich’s Department Store in Atlanta, Georgia, after almost 20 years. She was a member of Acton Baptist Church, Texas. Mary was a member of the Granbury Quilters’ Guild. She invested 2,815 hours making 300 quilt tops for charities with the help of Lou Bates.

Mary is survived by five generations: son, Robert Edward Allen and wife, JoAnn Allen; daughter, Elaine Allen Thomas, and husband, Lindell Thomas; daughter, Cynthia Allen Suich, and her husband, Dr. Paul Suich; grandson, Bob Allen; grandson, Joshua Suich, and wife, Angie Suich; grandson Dr. David Suich, and wife, Elisabeth Brown; granddaughter, Heather Hogan, and husband, Shane Hogan; great grandchildren Austin Allen, Ansley Allen, Anna Allen, Reilly Hogan, Mack Hogan; great-great-grandchildren Carter Allen, Preslee Allen, Olivia Suich, Clara Brown, Camille Brown; nieces Genie Lindsey, Linda Barbry, and Donna Reigner; nephews Scott and Phil Manley, their spouses and children. She was preceded in death by brothers, James Manley, Stuart Manley, and sister, Bertie Andrews. Special friends include Cari Wells; Dr. and Mrs. Christopher Apostol, and Jonathan Apostol, and Mary Grace Apostol; Kathy Krajca; Valery Raney; Lou Bates; Dr. David Kuban; Dr. Eduardo Humes, Dr. Jay Thomas; friends through the Greater Forth Worth Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship; and church family at Acton Baptist Church.

Visitation will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Acton Baptist Church, 3500 Fall Creek Highway, Granbury, TX 76049. The memorial will follow immediately after and will be streamed live by the church.
