Larry grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School in 1960. That same year, Larry went to work at Convair (General Dynamics and later Lockheed Martin) where he worked as an offset printing operator in the reproduction/reprographics department for over 40 years. Larry also served as a union committeeman for the O.P.E.I.U.
Larry married Carol Cross May 22, 1987. Larry had two sons from a previous marriage, Shawn and Walter Presley. Carol had a son from a previous marriage, Brent Blackmon. Larry and Carol were married for 37 years until she passed in June of this year.
Larry was an old country boy that still took a man at his word. Larry loved his family and cherished his grandkids. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed working on cars and drag raced at the local tracks. Later, he enjoyed working with his horses and mules and traveling with his family. In his older years, Larry enjoyed camping with friends and family, working on his old tractors, rocking on the porch, and enjoying a cold Miller Lite … or two. Larry wasn’t one to stand in the spotlight but was always there to show his love and support from the shadows.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Presley, and his mother and father.
Larry is survived by his sister Lynn Presley of Fort Worth; son Shawn Presley and wife Shannon of Roanoke; son Walter Presley of Joshua; stepson Brent Blackmon and wife Sarah of Granbury; nine grandchildren: Nick, Caylin, Brynlee, David, Cayson, Deacon, Caleb, Wyatt and Brystal; one great-grandchild, Levi; and many beloved friends.
