At Poly High School, she met the late Jerry M. Hyde, to whom she was married for 41 years until his passing. Lanelle enjoyed attending high school reunions for both Lubbock and Poly High School for 70 staying connected with former classmates and friends like Carol Passmore, Suzy Justice, Ronald Tackett and Kenneth Copeland.

Lanelle, Jerry and her two sons moved from Dallas to Arlington, Texas, in the late 1960s. Lanelle participated in Arlington activities, including serving as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church for more than 30 years. She was actively involved as a den mother in Cub Scouts and

Webelos, PTA and the Arlington Woman’s Club. She never missed a single athletic game her sons played from kindergarten through college, becoming close with the Shiller, Miller, Foster, Hughes, Renfro, Broyles, Rippy, Sulzen, Johnson and Childress families.

After returning to college to complete her degree while raising her sons and running a household, in 1981 Lanelle graduated with honors from Texas Woman’s University with a degree in education. Later, she obtained her Master of Science in education with honors from the same institution, receiving the H. Howard Hughes Award for outstanding Shakespearean student. Lanelle taught honors English to junior high and high school students in Arlington for 25 years. She frequently carried stacks of papers to grade to and from her sons’ college football games and later when babysitting her three grandchildren.

After her husband Jerry passed away, Lanelle moved to Pecan Plantation on Lake Granbury, where she previously shared family adventures and became involved with the Pecan Plantation Woman’s Club. Lanelle joined Lakeside Baptist Church and the Praise the Lord (PTL) Sunday school class. She admired Pastor Mark Forrest’s preaching, marveled at Malcolm Yarnell’s biblical knowledge, and thoroughly enjoyed Brad and Jeannie Humphrey’s PTL leadership shared with a class filled with authentic believers and supportive friends. Lanelle met Marcus Marlin and his wonderful daughters, Teresa and Felicia in Granbury. Lanelle and Marcus were always on the go until shortly before her passing, frequently seen at Pam’s Too for breakfast, volunteering at the Granbury Opera House and enjoying performances at Granbury Live.

Lanelle greeted everyone with a smile, laughed heartily, treated others with kindness, and demonstrated her faith through words and actions. Thank you, mom, for your love, countless sacrifices, encouragement and

blessing of faith you provided. It is an honor to be your son. You indeed fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
