Kathleen McDermott was born to Paul and Susie Norwick McDermott in Houston July 27, 1953. She died Dec. 21, 2024.
Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel in Glen Rose. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
Kate attended schools in Houston, graduating from Sharpstown High School. Kate worked as a dietary aide at Bellaire General Hospital in Houston. Kate relocated to Abilene where she worked at Hendrick Medical Center for 25 years prior to her retirement because of health problems.
Kate was very active in the Bluff Dale community, where she attended the Bluff Dale Methodist Church and worked in its food pantry. She was a very good gardener and belonged to the Bluff Dale Garden Club. She was a known animal lover.
Kate is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Susie McDermott and her brother, Mark Kevin McDermott.
Kate is survived by her sister, Karen Sue McDermott Hunt, her brother Paul Keith McDermott and his wife, DeAnna Letsinger McDermott with their son Dustin Lucas McDermott and their daughter, Melanie Rose McDermott Gunter and her children Emalyn, Everly and Hallie Jo Gunter along with her husband, Brian Gunter and Lauren Kate McDermott.
