Joy was born May 27, 1935, in Lesley Hall County to Jess and Ina Mae (Moore) Emmons. She married the love of her life, Harvey Neal Trull, Aug. 5, 1954, in Spade. Joy and Neal shared 61 wonderful years together, building a life filled with faith, family and service.
A dedicated member of First Baptist Church Granbury for 49 years, Joy lived her life as a shining example of Christian love. Her faith guided her in all that she did, whether she was serving her church family, her community or her own loved ones.
Joy began her career as a kindergarten teacher at Shearer Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio. Later, she became a pioneer in Texas advocating for the rights of the Deaf, dedicating over 65 years to serving and supporting the Deaf community. As a skilled interpreter, she used sign language to serve Granbury ISD, her church and countless individuals in need.
Joy had a gift for hospitality and delighted in cooking and entertaining friends and family. Sports also became a cherished part of her life-thanks in large part to Neal — especially when it meant cheering for her grandchildren and area teams. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she made sure each of them felt deeply loved and valued.
Joy’s life was a testimony to the power of faith, prayer and service. She loved her community, continually praying for others and offering support whenever needed. She touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity and unwavering commitment to helping others.
Joy Marlene Trull leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Trull; her sister, Rowena Andrews; and her parents, Jess and Ina Mae Emmons.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelly Trull and Carla Leech (Stan); her grandchildren, Courtney Wells (Casey), Coby Leech, Sammy Thompson (Audrey) and Sunnye Thompson; and her great-grandchildren, Jack Wells and Mykah Joy Thompson.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Interim Healthcare Home Care and Hospice for their loving care and support.
