Jo Donahoo 1934 – 2026

Posted

Our Meme was born in Morgan Mill, Texas, to Boston and Myrtie Rasberry Aug. 14, 1934.

Jo met Ollie Donahoo when he went into the drug store where she worked. He asked her out for a date and they married Feb. 9, 1952, in Stephenville. He was working at the Ice House and she was a nurse at the hospital. They moved to Hood County in September of 1955 to work for the John R. Black Ranch.

This began the era when Jo (to Ollie) became Mom to Maulinda, Brenda and Tommy, and Meme to Jodie, Kristy, Richard, Kacy, Kirt and Cori. These grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she made sure that family gatherings were epic occasions.

In the summer of 1969, they moved into Granbury. Jo worked at the Hood General Hospital and then moved to Granbury Medical Clinic. In later years, she went back and worked as a surgical and floor nurse at Lake Granbury Medical Center.

Jo was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Granbury for 61 years. Ollie and Jo “raised” a pew full of children who needed supervision while their parents sang in the choir.

Jo spent her life making sure her family was cared for. She used her nursing skills at home as well as at work. After her kids were raised, she began helping raise her grandkids. She was always the mender of clothes, homework police and a strict enforcer of the “three cookie rule” after school.

Jo passed from this world Jan. 21, 2026. Private family burial: Tuesday, Jan. 27. A memorial service followed at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Granbury.

Jo is survived by her children Chesley and Maulinda Brown, Dan and Brenda Burenheide, Tommy and Menielle Donahoo. Her grandchildren are Justin and Jodie Dickson, Brad and Kristy Fiebig, Richard and Crystal Burenheide, Justin and Kacy Warren, Kirt and Lauren Brown, William and Cori Moore. Jo’s great-grandchildren are Bailee Burenheide, Owen Dickson, William Burenheide, Eli Dickson, Caroline Brown, Harper Fiebig, Ollie Burenheide and Maren Moore. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Jo is preceded in death by Ollie, her husband of 71 years, her parents, as well as her sister, Francis Seymour and brother, Earl Rasberry.

Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Granbury, 301 Loop 567, Granbury, TX 76048.
