James Elbert Brown 1948 — 2025

James Elbert Brown was born March 3, 1948 in Wilmington, North Carolina to Elbert Autiway Brown and Lucile Alberta Brown (nee King) and died recently.

He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1966. He graduated from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina with a BS degree in 1970. He married Susan Carol Whitlow in 1975 at Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington, North Carolina.

James worked for Brown and Root Construction at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant from 1975 until 1986 when he went to work for TUGCO, retiring in 2020. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Granbury for 41 years. He was a member of the Brazos Valley chapter of Sons of the American Revolution.

James liked vintage cars, Colonial American history, genealogy research and reading the Hood County News.

He loved being a father, grandfather, and husband.

James is greatly loved and leaves his family with so many wonderful memories that will live in their hearts forever. We love you James Elbert “Jaddy, Paw-Paw” Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan; daughter Ann and grandson Martin of Tampa, Florida; sister Glenda Worley of Orlando, Florida; niece Amy Olson of Hampstead, North Carolina; cousin Bennie King and wife Annette of Ash, North Carolina.
