Jack Sides, 79, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Granbury, Texas, passed away Oct. 3, 2025, in Dallas.
Visitation: Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, 5-7 p.m., Wiley Funeral Center, Granbury. Service: Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025, 11 a.m., Wiley Funeral Center. Burial: Covington, Tennessee, date to be announced, via Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home. Flowers and donations: Flowers welcome; memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Born June 19, 1946, in Brownsville, Tennessee, Jack served in the U.S. Air Force through 1971. In Evanston, Illinois, he met Teresa “Terry” Shedeck; they married Aug. 30, 1969, sharing 56 years. A Ham operator (call sign WB9YLR), SK, he made Texas home in the 1990s. With Terry he rode motorcycles through 49 states, volunteered for Toy Runs and Toys for Tots, and treasured time with family and friends. Jack formerly served as Post Commander of American Legion Post 492, was active in the VFW, and was an honorary member of the Marine Corps League. With Terry he supported local veterans’ and community events.
In retirement, Jack also enjoyed fishing, the quiet and the company in equal measure. His greatest pastime, though, was golf. He played several times a week for years, and he will be missed on the course by many.
Survivors: wife, Terry; son, Sean Sides (Lori Galster); daughter, Christine Smith (Kevin); grandchildren, Brittany and Brett Sides; brothers, Barry, Pat (Sonia), and Clay (April) Sides; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: his mother, Evelyn McBride Klein, and stepfather, Frank Klein; his father, Jack Sides; his stepmother, Ruth Sides; and his niece, Amber Sides.
He will be remembered for the love he gave, the service he rendered, and the miles of kindness he left behind.
