This past week, the North and East Texas Press Association announced the winners in the annual Better Newspaper contest. The contest was held in conjunction with the North and East Texas Press Association's Convention in Fairfield, Texas. Newspapers throughout the region submit entries which are judged by out-of-area newspaper professionals to determine the highest achievers in a variety of newspaper categories. Entries are evaluated against the submission of other newspapers of a similar size. This year, the Hood County News competed in Division 4, which is for larger weekly newspapers.
