Gary Darr Sr., 83, passed away April 13, 2025, in Granbury, Texas. Born March 9, 1942, in Olney, Texas, Gary lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, his work and his passions.
Throughout his career, Gary found his calling in sales, including a focus on health insurance. His outgoing nature and genuine care for others made him a natural in the field. Known for his hard work and strong will, Gary built long-lasting relationships with those he served and worked alongside.
Family was at the heart of Gary's life. He shared many cherished years with his beloved wife Barbara Darr, whose memory remained close to him after her passing. He was a devoted father to Gary Darr Jr. and his wife Kathy; Troy Darr and his wife Raphaela; and Felesha Smith and her husband Dave. Gary also had a bond with his brother Dan Darr. He carried the memory of his sons, Dale Darr and Michael Eyraud with him always along with that of his parents, Jim and Dorothy Darr.
Gary's love for sports was evident throughout his life. He enjoyed football, baseball and golf, often spending time immersed in these favorite pastimes. In their younger years, Gary and Barbara loved spending time with family boating on Lake Granbury, and a fun time was always had.
Faith played a big role in Gary's journey. Gary and Barbara attended church regularly and later remained steadfast in their devotion by watching church services on television.
Those who knew Gary will remember him as loving, funny, generous, and always ready with a smile or a joke to brighten someone's day. His willingness to help others never wavered; he was truly a friend to many.
A celebration of life will be held for Gary and Barbara at a later date.
