Cathryn Suzanne Engel Clark 1953 – 2025

Cathryn Suzanne Engel Clark passed away peacefully Friday, May 2, in Highland Village, Texas.

Cathy was born July 9, 1953, in Fort Worth, where she lived until moving to Granbury in July 1997. Beginning at age 8, swimming was a lifelong commitment. In the 1960s, she swam with the Burford Swimming Team in Arlington, Texas, and throughout the 1970s, she competed on school swimming teams while attending Eastern Hills High School and Texas Wesleyan College. In the 2000s, Cathy volunteered as an assistant coach for the Granbury Seals Swimming Team, inspiring many young swimmers and competing in TAAF swimming events through the years.

In 1983, Cathy earned a Master of Education degree from Texas Christian University. After teaching kindergarten for 33 years in Fort Worth ISD and Granbury ISD, she proudly became a retired early childhood teacher. Cathy was an active member of the Fort Worth Area Association for the Education of Young Children and worked in Fort Worth Creative Problem-Solving Events for most of her teaching career. In 2006, she was honored by the Granbury Masonic Lodge, receiving the Lamar Award for Personal Achievement.

Cathy was a member of the Hood County Retired School Personnel Association, the Order of the Eastern Star and was a lifelong member of Poly Methodist Church. Cathy, a loving mother, teacher and friend to many, enjoyed music, cooking, growing and arranging flowers and being outdoors.

Cathy is survived by her son, Scott Clark of Lewisville, Texas and brother, Wallace Engel of Fort Worth.
