Two Glen Rose residents — a brother and sister in their early 20s — died in Hood County as a result of a one-vehicle accident early on Saturday, March 26.

At about 12:30 a.m., DPS troopers investigated the crash on State Highway 144, approximately four miles south of Granbury, according to DPS Sgt. Richard Hunter.

“Preliminary investigation indicates a 2018 Jeep Cherokee was traveling south on SH 144 when, for an unknown reason, the Jeep failed to negotiate a curve in the road,” Hunter’s news release states. “The Jeep left the roadway and struck a tree. It then caught fire and burned. The driver, 24-year-old Kason Andrew Brewer, and a passenger, Amalie Belle Brewer, 22, both of Glen Rose, died at the scene.”

Their parents, Kelly and Lindsey Brewer, own and operate Sugarbiscuits & Company, a popular restaurant on Elm Street in downtown Glen Rose. Both Kason and Amalie have been working at the restaurant.

The Prosperity Bank branch at 711 NE Big Bend Trail in Glen Rose has an account set up to receive donations to help the family with the funeral expenses. The phone number at that branch office is 325-794-3159.
