The Hood County fire marshal’s website has a new statement on its home page — one that aims to safely regulate Battery Energy Storage Systems.

Hood County’s window repair project at the historic courthouse is turning out to be a much bigger undertaking than initially expected.

Hood County Commissioners Court officially accepted and signed for the 2026 Flock camera grant Aug. 12 — but not before acknowledging nearly all the cameras from the previous grant still remain uninstalled.

A disagreement between Granbury City Council and Hood County Commissioners Court recently came to a head during their respective meetings, as both governing bodies expressed frustration about the Granbury Regional Radio Network (GRRN).

Granbury city officials are taking a stand against several proposed legislative bills they say could result in an insurmountable amount of financial damage to the city and its ability to operate efficiently.

The path to Hood County’s future now rests in the voters’ hands, after the Hood County Commissioners Court unanimously approved orders calling for two November bond elections: a jail expansion/renovation and nine road projects.

A new luxury housing development is one step closer to reality, after Granbury City Council approved a zoning change Aug. 5.

After more than a year of meticulous planning, tweaks and open engagement with residents, the city of Granbury has officially adopted its 2025 Comprehensive Plan — setting the stage for the city’s growth within the next decade.

With Granbury’s population continuing to soar — and downtown parking lots starting to feel like an adult version of musical chairs — city officials now are exploring the idea of a parking garage.

Granbury City Council members entertained several topics of discussion during its two-hour meeting Aug. 5, with proposals of a downtown parking garage and a tax-rate increase serving as key items on the agenda.

On Tuesday, July 29, representatives from both Hood County and Somervell County, along with the Texas A&M Forest Service, gathered at the historic courthouse to formally sign the Community Wildfire Protection Plan into action.

After multiple meetings and discussions, Hood County officials are now finalizing a resolution outlining safety requirements for Battery Energy Storage Systems. Shortened to BESS, these devices enable renewable energy sources, like solar and wind, to be stored and released when the power is needed most.
