This Saturday, Nov. 15, the “Great Granbury Clean Up” will once again commence. The clean up is a semi-annual event where environmentally inclined volunteers gather to pick up trash from the city’s public areas and roadways in an attempt so keep the Granbury sparkling.

As the weather gets cooler and the days get shorter, Granbury’s youth begin anticipating their fall vacations. However, before the schools open their doors for the season of gratitude, there first must be a Thanksgiving feast.

The Marine Corps League Commanchie Peak Detachment 1297, in association with the Granbury Lion’s Club, are rounding up the troops to help celebrate the 250th birthday of the US Marine Corps, which was established Nov. 10, 1775.

On Nov. 3. the Trump administration announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture would not have the $8 billion needed to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the nation’s largest food benefit program, through the month of November. Instead, they will provide 50 percent of the benefits to the program’s recipients.

The holiday season is approaching and for many it brings back fond memories of an elderly relative who was an artist at decorating cookies, creating those beautiful tablescapes and more. And, often, we didn’t take the time back then to learn that artistry.
