Posted

Excitement and feathers filled the air in the Courts Cleveland Show Barn as the 70th Anniversary Hood County Junior Livestock Show kicked off on Tuesday morning, January 7, at the Reunion Grounds with the Broiler Show and Livestock Skill-a-thon Buckle Presentations. As the chicken competition intensified, a long line of exhibitors and their furry entries formed for weigh-in of the Rabbit Show scheduled for 2:00 PM. Two brothers emerged as the standout winners of the Broiler Show. Braden Neal from Granbury FFA claimed the Grand Champion Broiler title, while his brother Garrett Neal from Granbury Jr FFA took home the Reserve Championship. In the Rabbit Show, Lincoln Tibijas from Granbury Jr. FFA won the Grand Champion Pen of Three Rabbits, and the Reserve Champion Pen of Three award went to Anastasia Traylor from Grabury FFA. The first day ended with the Single Fryer rabbit Grand Champion prize going to Tolar FFA’s Carter Pickens, and Cora Carter taking Reserve Champion honors. The show runs from January 7 to January 10, with the Premium Sale on Saturday, January 11. This event is open to all Hood County students ages eight to 18 who are members of 4-H, Granbury, Lipan, and Tolar FFA members.
