The Lipan School Board has named Ralph Carter, Superintendent of Schools at Jessieville, Arkansas, as the lone finalist for superintendent of Lipan ISD. Carter has served as superintendent in Jessieville for three years after having served as superintendent at West Hardin CISD (Texas) for two years. In his earlier career he was a teacher and assistant elementary principal in Bryan, elementary principal in Centerville and director of the Special Education Cooperative in Leon County. Carter and his wife, Susan, a retired educational diagnostician, have been married for 39 years and have three grown sons. The Carters have expressed a desire to relocate to Texas to be closer to their children and grandchildren. The board plans to officially employ Carter on June 7, following the required 21-day waiting period. He will be replacing Cindy Edwards who is retiring after serving the district for eight years.
