Tumbling down with a loud boom

November 22, 2013

The retired steam unit at Luminant’s deCordova plant on Lake Granbury came down with a boom about 8:45 this morning. Those near the implosion scene said they saw sparks, heard the boom and saw the structure crumble to the ground. The unit was put in operation in 1975 and had been idle since it was retired in December 2010. The combustive turbine units at the plant are still operational and can be used as needed.
