After falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter, the tenth-ranked Sonora Broncos roared back to defeat Tolar 53-35 in first round Division 3A2 bi-district playoff action in Marble Falls.
A 47-yard touchdown reception by Clayton Carr from Cody Jones gave the Rattlers a 14-0 lead with 12 seconds to go in the first quarter but it was all Broncos after that.
The fifteenth-ranked Rattlers (7-4) had no answer for Sonora running back Jarrett Jackson who scored five touchdowns. The Broncos never punted and had 641 yards of total offense.
Head coach Mike Franklin said the team speed of Sonora was a problem for the Rattlers.
“They use different formations to try to get you out of position, and they did,” said Franklin.
The Rattlers offense totaled 347 yards on the ground and 88 through the air.
Quarterback Will Bonnell was the leading rusher for Tolar with 67 yards on 19 carries. Bonnell was three for 12 passing for 42 yards and one interception.
