Old steam unit at deCordova Power Plant will be imploded Friday

Weather permitting, Luminant has plans to implode the retired steam unit at the deCordova Power Plant on Lake Granbury Friday morning. The unit has been idle since it was retired in December 2010. The implosion process is expected to produce loud booms. Access to the area will be restricted for safety reasons, according to company spokesman Brad Watson. The combustive turbine units at the plant are still operational and can be used as needed.
