Nuisance abatement policy set for Commissioners Court

Several months ago, the Commissioners Court began discussions with the county attorney, other county officials and members of homeowners association boards with an eye toward adopting a policy that would allow the county to force the clean-up of problem properties. County Attorney Matt Mills has suggested imposing liens on properties to force non-compliant owners to repay at least some of the clean-up costs. Commissioners will decide at their regular meeting Tuesday whether to adopt Mills’ proposed nuisance abatement procedures.
