Lives will be celebrated and respects paid at the candlelight ceremony Saturday, May 25 at the Field of Flags, located next to Spring Creek Barbeque, 317 E. Highway 377. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Those receiving recognition at the program include past and present members of the Armed Forces, tornado victims and Hood County first responders. The breathtaking Field of Flags is sponsored by the U.S. Veterans Museum and features hundreds of American flags in tribute to the Armed Forces. Flags were purchased for $35 to honor loved ones in the military. Proceeds benefit the Marines JROTC program at GHS and the U.S. Veterans Museum.
