Energy Future Holdings (EFH) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy today to reduce about $40 billion of debt. With a prearranged restructuring plan, the filing has been anticipated for more than a year. Luminant is a subsidiary of EFH with nearby operations at Comanche Peak nuclear power plant and deCordova power plant. Luminant spokesman Brad Watson said normal day-to-day operations will continue during the reorganization. “This restructuring is focused on our balance sheet, not operations. So there won’t be any impact on plants because of the Chapter 11 filing,” Watson said.
