December 9, 2013

Granbury resident J Miles Horner, 63, a longtime master carpenter and builder, died Saturday afternoon as a result of being injured in a weather-related accident on the Parker County ranch where he was employed as foreman. Friends reported that after Horner’s pickup became stuck in the ice, he tried to pull it free using a “Mule” utility vehicle but it flipped over on Horner, who died at the scene. A public memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 at the Pavilion at the Wied Cantina in Silverado on the Brazos, 700 Cutters Trail, between Granbury and Weatherford off of Highway 51. A reception will follow at the Cantina. Wiley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
