Front-runners in early voting maintain leads

With six of the county’s 10 Vote Centers reporting, candidates for local offices who led in early voting are continuing to outdistance their opponents. Chris Willis has 41 percent of the ballots cast (5,374 votes) to Cyndi Wren’s 32 percent (4,163) and Maureen Griffin’s 28 percent (3,623). For Granbury City Council, it’s Bruce Wadley over Joe Davis for Place 3 (1,846 votes/71 percent to 758 votes/29 percent) and Place 5 incumbent Tony Mobly over Tony Hedges (1,483/55 percent to 1,220/45 percent). With 17,541 votes (79 percent), Republican County Clerk Katie Lang continues to hold a strong lead over Democratic challenger Gene McNeely (4,623/21 percent). Republican U.S. Rep. Mike Conaway also continues to outdistance his Democratic challenger, Jennie Lou Leeder. Conaway holds 82 percent of the vote with 18,236 ballots cast in his favor, while Leeder has garnered 17 percent at 3,729 votes.
