Benjamin James Patterson on Wednesday (Jan. 16) in 355th Judicial District Court became the third and final suspect to be tried, convicted and sentenced to prison in connection with the Dec. 2, 2010, theft of an ATM containing more than $40,000 in cash from the First National Bank of Granbury branch on Highway 377 East in Granbury, District Attorney Rob Christian said. Because Patterson was a habitual criminal with five previous felony convictions, he received the maximum sentence of 99 years in prison, according to Christian. Previously, Anthony George Hannon was convicted for his part in the crime and received a 90-year prison sentence, and Cory Finley was sentenced to 16 years. All three resided in Fort Worth. The case was spearheaded by the Granbury Police Department, working together with Hood County deputies.
