D.A.: Case on Appraisal District sent to Attorney General

October 11, 2013

District Attorney Rob Christian said Friday (Oct. 11) that the Attorney General’s office is looking into possible illegal actions by Hood County Appraisal District employees, board members and the chair of the Appraisal Review Board. “On Sept. 17, I delivered the case to the Office of the Attorney General for their review. When they finish their review, I expect to hear from them,” Christian wrote in response to an email inquiry from the HCN about the status of the matter. The investigation involves two possible Class A misdemeanor crimes tied to a property appraisal protest in which the ARB sided in favor of the appellant and against the Appraisal District. The allegations were made by ARB member and vice chair Joe Polino, a sworn peace officer. Polino also has alleged a violation of the Open Meetings Act.
