Closing statements coming Thursday in Hart trial

Closing statements are expected to begin Thursday morning in 355th Judicial District Court in the punishment phase of the trial of Fallon Wayne Hart, 36, of Kerens, who on Monday pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, plus aggravated robbery and evading arrest with a vehicle. Hart is accused of firing multiple times with an AR-15 rifle at two Granbury police officers and one Sheriff’s Office deputy during a Jan. 21 incident in the Spanish Trail subdivision. He is also accused of stealing a vehicle from a couple in a nearby home, at gunpoint. The penalty range for the aggravated assault charges is five years probation to 99 years or life.
