Chandler reassigned from coach of Indians

March 17, 2014

Cody Chandler has been reassigned and is no longer the coach of the Lipan Indians basketball team, Lipan athletic director Mike Permenter confirmed Monday. The search for a new coach is under way. Chandler coached the Indians for eight seasons, compiling a 173-92 record. He led them to the 2009 Class A Division II State Tournament, six regional tournament appearances, a regional championship (2009) and two other regional finals. The Indians won a district championship five times and finished second once with him as coach, and he was named Coach of the Year twice (2007, 2008). Last season the Indians failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in more than two decades, finishing 12-18, but they bounced back to reach the second round this season and finished 14-16. Chandler also led the Indians to the first state championship in school history as a player in 1994.
