Brazos River Authority to be audited

The Brazos River Authority (BRA) will be audited in fiscal year 2014, according to the offices of state Sen. Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) and state Rep. Jim Keffer (R-Eastland). A joint press release issued by the lawmakers states that the Texas State Auditor’s Office has confirmed that the audit will be done and that the move is in response to a “direct request” made by the pair last summer. Keffer and Birdwell are asking for a review of the BRA’s operational processes “in order to ensure their efficiency and effectiveness.” They also want information related to the controversial decision to suspend hydroelectric operations at the Morris Sheppard Dam at Possum Kingdom Lake.
