Texas Edge tops PONY Elite tourney

Riding a potent offense, Texas Edge rolled to the top spot in the 10-Under bracket at the recent Pony Elite Baseball Tournament held locally.

Texas Edge defeated the Sulphur Springs Rebels 12-8 in the championship game.

The victory in the title game came on the heels of a 12-3 victory against the Dallas Patriots in the semifinals, while Sulpher Springs slipped by the ABA Thunder 3-2 in a much tighter affair.

In pool play, Texas Edge had little trouble with either of their opponents. They ran past the Texas Rebels, winning 10-4. They finished pool play with a 2-0 record after a 21-0 thumping of the ACYS Hornets.


The Brock Eagles claimed the championship in the round-robin competition, posting a 4-0 record, while Texas Edge was second with a 2-2 record.

Both of Texas Edge’s losses came to Brock, 17-4 and 11-1. Texas Edge defeated Azle (0-4) twice, 14-2 and 11-10.


The Crowley Outlaws walloped the Texas Black Cats-cienega 14-2 in the championship game. Texas Edge received a bye in the first round, but was ousted by the Black Cats-Cienega in the semifinals 13-8.

The Outlaws dropped Texas Black Cats-Lopez 8-5 in the semifinals.


The Gators’ 10-2 victory against the Whitney Young Guns gave them the championship. In the semifinals, the Young Guns downed the Texas Dingers 13-1, while the Gators got by Texas Edge 14-3.


The Texas Sox had little trouble with the Clifton Cubs in the title game, winning 10-0. This came on the heels of a 7-1 semifinals win over the Benbrook Bombers.

The Cubs reached the championship by edging BLBA 9-8.
