SEALS HOLDING TRYOUTS

The Granbury SEALS swim team will hold tryouts for the coming summer season. The first session will be Tuesday (May 13), with the second session on Thursday, May 22.

Both tryout sessions are from 5:30-7 p.m.

The first day of practice for returning swimmers is June 2. New swimmers will hold their first practice June 3. The first meet is June 13 in Weatherford.

HCN TENNIS FESTIVAL SET

The 2014 Hood County News Tennis Festival is scheduled for May 16-18 at Pecan Plantation Country Club.

Friday’s activities will feature Kids Night with free clinics, games and prizes. There will also be free pizza and soft drinks.

Saturday, competition will begin in the Juniors and Adult divisions, with play going from 9 a.m.-dark. That evening there will be a meet-and-greet with a raffle, free pizza and soft drinks and a tennis exhibition featuring a battle of the sexes between Granbury High tennis players Kate Bramlett/Elizabeth Morton and Peter Mueller/Joel Rodgers.

Competition wraps up Sunday with matches beginning at 10 a.m. Awards will be handed out after each final.

Entry fee is $5 for each Juniors event, with a maximum of two events in singles and doubles (one each) for boys and girls. Adult entry fee is $20 for the first event and $10 for the second.
