The Pirates have reached the postseason each of the past four seasons, but have yet to advance past bidistrict. Last season they posted a 9-2 record, the most victories for the team in nearly five decades, but they fell in bidistrict to Waco.
Their lone regular-season loss was at Aledo, which went on to win the Class 4A Division II state championship.
The Pirates are 16-6 over the past two seasons.
The Pirates will play a pair of scrimmages at home against Wichita Falls Hirschi on Aug. 15 and Stephenville on Aug. 22.
Granbury is moving into a new district – 8-5A – this season. That league will include Aledo (16-0), Crowley (10-2), Everman (8-4), Burleson (6-5), Cleburne (6-4), Burleson Centennial (2-8) and Joshua (0-10).
