NCTA qualifies 10 for TAPPS state track

April 30, 2014

Once again North Central Texas Academy will be well-represented at this weekend Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class A State Track and Field Meet.

Competing at Waco will be 10 members of the squad (6 boys, 4 girls). They qualified recently at the recent regional meet at McMurry University in Abilene.

Topping the list of qualifiers is Esther Udonsi of the Lady Pioneers. She won a gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.14, took silver in the long jump with a 15-8/75 effort, and ran a leg of both fourth-place relays (400, 800).

Cale Dodson qualified in four events for the Pioneers. He was fourth in the 800 and discus, and ran a leg of two second-place relays (400, 800).

The Pioneers also had a second-place finish in the 1600 relay.

As a team, the Pioneers were second with 73 points. Amarillo Ascension won with 104.

Last season the Pioneers finished third in the state as a team, continuing the school’s long history of state track success.
