HCN JUNIOR GOLF TOURNEYS

The Hood County News Junior Golf Tournaments will be played at Granbury Country Club this year. The first tournament is scheduled for June 11, with following tournaments set for July 9 and Aug. 13.

The Hood County News is joining forces with the First Tee program, which will also hold its summer camp at GCC June 23-27.

Tee times for the HCN Tournaments are 8 a.m.

The tournaments are free to Hood County residents and $10 for non-residents, but no player will be turned away. Participation ages are 5-18, with age groups including 5-7, 8-10, 11-14, and 15-18.

Lunch will also be provided.

NUTCRACKER ACE

Don McAda recorded a hole-in-one on the 117-yard, par-3 hole at Nutcracker Golf Club Sunday. He used a 9-iron, and his shot was witnessed by Pam McAda, Don Fair, and Charlene Fair.

TOURNAMENT TO BENEFIT

FIRE DEPARTMENTS

The first Danny Hill/Mike Brown Invitational Charity Golf Tournament is set for June 20 at Harbor Lakes Golf Club. All proceeds benefit Hood County Fire Departments.

A four-person scramble, the tournament begins at noon, preceded by a box lunch at 11 a.m. and dinner after play. Entry fee is $500 per team.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers, along with closest to the pin, longest drive, and a car giveaway for a hole-in-one on a designated hole.

LIPAN FFA GOLF TOURNEY

The Third Annual Lipan Future Farmers of America Golf Tournament is scheduled for June 27 at Sugar Tree Golf Course.

The four-person scramble will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Players will be provided range balls, drink tickets, breakfast, food on the course, a steak dinner, and door prizes. There will also be contests for closest to the pin and longest drive.

The top three teams will receive a cash payout.

Cost to enter is $75 per person or $300 per team. Mulligans are available for $5 each, limit four per player.

DUFFER’S DELIGHT RESET

The Duffer’s Delight “Unclassic” Golf Tournament has been rescheduled for July 14 due to a rainout. The tournament will have a 10 a.m. shotgun start with lunch to follow play.

The event, played at deCordova Bend Country Club, benefits the Hood County Children’s Charity Fund.

OILMEN’S GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Eighth Annual Oilmen’s Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for Aug. 8 at Hidden Oaks Golf Course. The event benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

TEXAS EDGE SUMMER EVENTS

Texas Edge Baseball will hold summer clinics beginning Monday for all ages. The clinics will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday-Thursday and will run through the entire summer.

Texas Edge will also host a Summer Baseball Camp for all ages July 14-15.

Participants are asked to bring a bat and glove.

LETA ANDREWS COUNTRY DAY

BASKETBALL CAMP

Former Granbury Lady Pirates basketball coach Leta Andrews will hold her annual basketball camp at Fort Worth Country Day School June 16-19. Times are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. for grades 2 and up.

Cost is $150. Students are asked to bring their own lunch and workout clothes.

Each participant will receive a free basketball for enrolling.
