Godley rallies past Rattlers in eight

April 23, 2014

The Tolar Rattlers had their 10th baseball victory of the season in their grasp Friday.

Then they played the seventh – and the eighth – innings.

Godley rallied for a run in the top of the seventh, then scored three in the eighth for a 7-4 win over the Rattlers.

Dakota Endsley doubled for Tolar, while Alec Elder drove in two runs.

Tolar (9-10, 1-8 in District 10-2A) led 4-1 after four innings. Even after Godley scored twice in the fifth, the Rattlers carried a one-run advantage into the seventh.

“We are just a very young team and we have to learn to complete all seven innings,” said Tolar coach Darrell Hogan.

The Rattlers have also lost one-run games against Whitney and Maypearl when they were leading most of the game – just as they were Friday.

Tolar was ending the season at home last night against Rio Vista. The Rattlers’ strange district schedule featured one game at home, five straight on the road, and the final four contests at home.
