Former Dallas Cowboy to coach Pirates defense

July 15, 2014

Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Stephen Hodge will be defensive coordinator for the Granbury Pirates this year.

Hodge, a standout player in Tatum and later at Texas Christian University, was drafted by the Cowboys in 2009.

Injuries cut short his NFL career.

Hodge most recently coached in Rusk.

The defensive coordinator will be joined by new football assistants Jody Brown, Anthony Overstreet and Jordon Sweatt.

They replace B.J. Carlton, Will Hedrick, Blaze Pendleton and Bradan Ritchey.

Other new assistant coaches are Wilson Ashton (girls soccer and volleyball), Chris Bloyd (Granbury Middle School girls athletics), Jacob Herbold (Acton Middle School boys athletics), Landry Mullins (AMS boys athletics) and Jerren Oredson (boys soccer).
