Ferguson’s one-hitter leads Indians’ 8-0 win

Lipan pitcher Lance Ferguson almost unhittable against Eula.

Almost.

Ferguson surrendered a one-out single in the top of the seventh inning in the Indians’ 8-0 victory.

Ferguson struck out 10 and walked one. He faced 23 batters, two above the minimum.

The Indians committed no errors.

“We played great defense all night with Lance throwing a great game,’ said Lipan coach Mike Permenter.

Ferguson also led the Indians at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and an intentional walk.

The victory kept the Indians (6-4, all district games) in a tie with Baird for third place in District 10-A. The two teams meet Friday in Lipan, with the winner having the inside track to the district’s final playoff berth.

Baird won the first meeting at home, 6-4, rallying late.
