Granbury resident Les Vanover was honored recently by Abilene Christian University by being placed in the school’s Sports Hall of Fame. Vanover was a member of ACU’s 1952 and 1954 NAIA national championship teams and held the record of high jumping for nearly two decades, clearing 6 feet, 8 inches in 1954. He won four consecutive conference championships in that event (1951-54) and was an All-American in 1954.
