Football squads start practicing in pads Friday

August 7, 2014

Temperatures are starting to hit 100 degrees just in time to coincide with the first day of practice in pads allowed by the UIL for Texas schoolboy football teams. Granbury High School and Tolar High School will both be wearing pads in their morning workouts on Friday, Aug. 8. After spending the week at a football camp in Parker County, Cornerstone Christian Academy will stage a midnight practice Friday that should last 30-40 minutes. North Central Texas Academy had two-a-days on Monday and Wednesday, and will do so again Friday. The first area scrimmages against outside foes will be next week, although GHS will have an intrasquad scrimmage at 8 a.m. Saturday lasting no longer than an hour.
