Dana Vollmer goes for more gold in London

After becoming the first female swimmer in history to break the 56-second barrier (55.98) and winning the 100-meter butterfly Sunday (July 29) at the London Olympics, Granbury’s Dana Vollmer goes for another gold medal Wednesday (Aug. 1) as part of the 800-meter freestyle relay. The U.S. team will enter the event as the top seed with a qualifying time of 7:46.14, followed by Australia at 7:47.42 and China at 7:47.66. The preliminaries are at 5:26 a.m. central time, with the finals set for 3:04 p.m.
