Pirate defense shines in scrimmage at Stephenville

August 22, 2013

In their annual scrimmage against rival Stephenville, the Granbury Pirates limited the defending Class 3A state champions to a 1-0 advantage in touchdowns in the controlled scrimmage. Then, in a quarter of game-type scrimmage, Stephenville again found the end zone just once in a 7-0 advantage. While the Pirates did not reach the end zone, they did have several big offensive plays, including some long pass plays from quarterback Ryan Suitt to receiver Nick Doughty. Also, on defense, B.J. Johnson had an interception for the Pirates.

“I am very pleased with what we did tonight,” said Pirate head coach Scotty Pugh.
